Q: How does an online class work?
A: Teacher Education University online class content is provided in an asynchronous manner over a 15 week semester through 10 or more Module topics. Students participate in weekly assignments including reflections, readings and online discussions with the course professor and fellow classmates.
Q: Do I have to login at a certain time or for a certain amount of time?
A: Do to the fact that students communicate through a static online forum instead of live chats, there is no set login time. Assignments have due dates and can be completed at an time after the initial start date. Therefore, it is left to the student to manage their time appropriately.
Q: Are your classes through a Blackboard or WebCT platform?
A: Teacher Education University courses are developed in HTML. This platform offers greater flexibility and accessibility.
Q: I'll be out
of town briefly while I am taking an online class. Will that
be a problem?
A: One of the benefits
of online learning is that you can access your online class
from anywhere as long as you have access to a computer and
the Internet. Or, if you are going to be out of town when
an assignment is due, you have the option to complete the
assignment early or make other arrangements with your instructor.
Q: What is required
to participate in online classes?
A: All online course
participants must have Internet access, an active email account,
basic knowledge of how to use a web browser application and
a word processing program. Students must also be able to run
an antivirus application to ensure that all files are virus
free.
Q: All online classes
recommend using Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet
Explorer as your web browser application. Can I also use the
browser that comes with America Online?
A: If you are using
America Online, we recommend using version 5.0 or above. You
can download the latest versions of Netscape Communicator,
Microsoft Internet Explorer or AOL's software by visiting

Q: Are taking classes
online really a good way to learn?
A: Many studies
have found that online learning can be as effective as traditional
classroom learning. Online learning allows you to study at
a time and place suited to your needs and still allows you
the opportunity to interact with instructors as well as other
students. Please keep in mind that Teacher Education University
programs are rigorous in nature.

Q: What are the
steps for the application and enrollment process?
A: Students must
submit the application
form along with:
- $50 non-refundable
application fee
- Official transcrips
from undergraduate degree. Transcripts must be received
in a sealed envelope.
- Copy of your
current resume or vita.
- A 500-word essay
outlining your personal objectives as they relate to earning
your Master's Degree and working in the education profession.
- Two letters
of recommendation, one of which should be from a current
or past employer.
Upon acceptance
into Teacher Education University, the student must submit
a signed Enrollment Agreement and a copy of a government-issued
photo ID.
